Baripada declared Open defection free (ODF)

Baripada: Baripada town was declared Open Defecation Free (ODF) in the tribal-dominated Mayurbhanj district Friday.

Collector Vineet Bhardwaj made the announcement at a special programme at Shahid Smruti Bhavan. Attending a programme, the Mayurbhanj Collector also urged the residents to make the town a plastic-free and keep the environment clean.

According to reports, the Baripada Municipality, which is the oldest civic body in the State, has constructed 71-seat eight community toilets and 80-seat nine general toilets in 28 wards of Baripada under Centre’s Swachh Bharat Mission.

The town has 24,418 populations. As many as 9,242 Individual Household Latrines have been constructed under the sanitation scheme in Baripada in the year 2018.

Among other present during the meeting were deputy speaker Sananda Marandi, sub-collector Dibyajyoti Pardia, CDMO Upangarpal Jitendra Mohanty and other officials.
