Baripada residents find new hang-out in Jubilee Park

Baripada: A longstanding demand of Baripada residents was fulfilled Saturday as Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Sananda Marndi inaugurated Jubilee Park – construction of which was going on for the last six years.

The park’s prime attraction is the boating facility, which is destined to be a hit with residents.
Municipal authorities had commenced construction work of the park from 2010-11.
Speaking on the occasion, Marndi said families in Baripada and surrounding areas can now spend some quality time by trying their hand at the various recreational facilities at the park.

Marndi said while the park will be open through the week, entry will be free for visitors on three days – Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The deputy speaker encouraged residents to visit the park on a regular basis, which he said would contribute to their quality of life. The park was built at a cost of `80 lakh over an area of 12 acres.

The prime attraction is the boating facility, with boat rides spread across a sprawling water body. Children will enjoy swings, toys, colourful decorative lights and geysers installed on a beautiful landscape with sprawling lawns.

A variety of indigenous and foreign flowers and plants have added to the charm of the park. There is a meandering footpath that senior citizens can use for their morning walks. Besides, a canteen and rest shelter is also available for visitors.

Some health equipment has also been installed at the park to enable residents to perform exercises. Scores of visitors thronged the park on the inaugural day, sources said. PNN
