However, students were unaware of the exam as no notice was pasted on the college notice board. This prevented many students from writing the exams. As a result, the agitated students locked the college and held a demonstration.

College principal Pramod Kumar Dwivedi and staff tried in vain to pacify the students. The students gheraoed Dwivedi over the issue leading to a standoff inside the college. Failing to bring the situation under control, the principal called the police.

Learning of the incident, Chhatrapur IIC Bishnu Prasad Patra reached the college and held a discussion with the agitating students. A meeting was held with the students in the presence of Patra, the principal and other staff.

Failing to receive a satisfactory answer, the students refused to discuss with the police and condemned the college authorities for involving police and calling them illegally to the college.

Many other students came in support of the agitators.
