Bhubaneswar: BDA does not merely build houses; it works according to the needs of the people, said Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) Minister and Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) Chairman Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, emphasising that the state government is committed to transforming Bhubaneswar into a world-class city. BDA observed its 44th Foundation Day at Jayadev Bhavan here Tuesday.
On the occasion, the minister unveiled the brochure of upcoming Subudhipur Ekamra Residency housing project. Addressing the gathering, Mahapatra said the project is aimed at providing the people of the Temple City with a modern, sustainable and well-equipped living environment. He said the planned development of the Capital City is vital to Odisha’s ambition of emerging as a leading state. He called for coordinated efforts by the administration and citizens to provide people with their dream homes, improve sewage and drainage infrastructure and protect the City’s green spaces.
Highlighting the importance of Town Planning (TP) schemes, the minister described them as the “backbone of people’s hopes”. He said planned urban development will ensure better civic amenities, enhance land values and ultimately benefit citizens.
Spread across 7.36 acres at Subudhipur, Ekamra Residency will comprise three B+G+12 residential towers offering spacious two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments. The project has been planned with a focus on modern and sustainable living and will feature a range of amenities, including RCC-framed earthquake-resistant structures, landscaped open spaces, a swimming pool, gymnasium, community hall, children’s play area and jogging track. Other facilities will include a sewage treatment plant, water recharge system, power backup, CCTV surveillance, fire safety systems and other supporting infrastructure.
Ekamra MLA Babu Singh urged the BDA to give greater priority to housing projects aimed at the urban poor. He said the authority have a significant role to play in the planned development of Bhubaneswar and, in turn, the growth of the state and the country. BDA Vice-Chairman Chan chal Rana said Bhubaneswar is not merely the Capital of Odisha but the “face and future of Odisha”. He said the proposed 20-year development plan will focus on integrated urbanisation, roads, drainage, affordable housing, parks, playgrounds and other social infrastructure.
