Bear carcass recovered in Balasore

Sajanagad:  Acting on a tip-off, forest official recovered the carcass of a bear from a farmland near Kathagochhi jungle at the foothills of Swarnachuda under Nilagiri police limits in Balasore district Monday.

Some locals noticed the carcass and reported the matter to the forest officials.

A team of forest personnel led by Nilagiri ranger Sukumar Das reached the spot and recovered the carcass.

The dead bear was then brought to the Nilagiri forest range office where veterinarian Dr Tapan Kumar Dwivedi conducted a post-mortem.

Later, the carcass was buried in the Jamudiha nursery, forest officials said.

According to Dwivedi, the bear aged about 26 years died of old-age related problems.
