‘Beggar’ found murdered

Bhubaneswar: A beggar was found murdered on the premises of Megheswar temple under Badagada police limits here Thursday.
According to police, the deceased was attacked by someone with some hard and sharp object like axe on his head, above the left ear. Bruises were also found on the fingers of the right hand of the deceased.
Beggars of the area identified the deceased as Bhaskar. “He was a beggar and had been staying here for around nine months. He used to beg at Sai temple near Tankapani road and Megheswar temple in the city. He was a native of Puri district,” said Laxmi Mali, a beggar at the Megheswar temple here.
Though the main gate of the temple was opened by temple priest Gangadhar Rath around 5 am Thursday, he could not spot the body. Later, when locals came for Yoga and exercise on the lawn on the temple premises, they found the dead body lying in a pool of blood. They informed the priest about this. And the priest informed the temple committee who then called the police later.
Badagda police reached the spot and registered a case (42/17) in this regard. “The exact reason of the death can be ascertained only after the postmortem report comes. The deceased has not been identified yet clearly. We are investigating the matter,” said deputy commissioner of police Satyabrata Bhoi.
Police officials said the forensic team has collected the blood samples from the spot for further examination.

Mystery shrouds man’s death
Bhubaneswar: Chandrasekharpur police recovered the body of a man from a cloth store near Damana Square here Wednesday night. The deceased was identified as Ashirbad Cloth Store owner Shantanu Kumar Mohanty, a resident of Kanan Vihar area, said the police. “We cannot say anything about the reason of the death until postmortem report comes. Locals said the cloth store was bolted from inside for the last three days. Locals informed us when the body started decomposing. We have sent it for postmortem,” police added. An unnatural death case (7/17) has been registered in this regard.
