Berhampur bus strike: BDA runs 10 city buses

Berhampur: With the private bus owners’indefinite strike entering its third day, the Berhampur Development Authority has come to the rescue of passengers by starting 10 city buses Tuesday.

The new buses took passengers from the new bus stand Tuesday morning.

Out of those 10 buses, four are scheduled to ply on Digapahandi route, two on Purusottampur and one each to Khallikote, Rambha, Patrapur and Chikiti.

It is also learnt that OSRTC would roll out some more buses to ease the traffic.

Though there was a meeting between the bus owners and the administration Sunday, it failed to find a way out to end the impasse.

The Haladiapadar Bus Terminal was opened Sunday. Prior to the opening of the terminal, all government and private buses were coming to the new bus stand. But as per the administration’s decision, the buses coming from other districts to Berhampur will go to the new bus terminal instead of the new bus stand.

And the ones plying within the district will go to new bus stand.

The bus owners have objected to this decision.
