BFC thump hapless MFC

Bhubaneswar: Rajib Das netted four goals to help Bhubaneswar Friends Club (BFC) rout Mukteswar Football Club (MFC) 8-0 in a match of the 14th Gati Krushna Memorial (Division-B) football league here Sunday.

The match was a one-sided affair with Rajib giving BFC an early lead in the third minute. Sailesh Tripathy doubled the score two minutes later with a beautiful header.

BFC continued with their aggressive approach and were duly rewarded when Rajib got his second of the match in the 16th minute. Then Soumesh Mohanty (40th) struck and Rajib completed his hat-trick a minute before half time. Ganeshwar Sindhu (46th), Rajib (65th) and Soumesh (66th) completed the rout after the interval.

Exciting draw

Rising Student Club (RSC) played out an exciting 1-1 draw against East Coast Railway (ECoR) in a FAO Ist division league match at the Barabati Stadium here Sunday.

RSC took the lead when Arvind Lakra scored in the fifth minute. Just when it looked like the strike would be enough, Ranjit Pareya equalised for ECoR with nine minutes to go for the final whistle.

In the other match of the day Morning Club got a walkover from Western Mahveer Club.

FAO IInd Division League

The FAO second division league will start September 9 at the Ravenshaw University Ground in Cuttack. Nine teams divided into two groups will take part in the tournament. The final will be played September 17. Royal Club, CRRI, LIC, OFR and Anchalika SC are clubbed in Group A, while Group B comprises Uday Club, Eleven Gun Club, MHSC and Chauliagunj Club.
