Bhadrak girl to take part in Int’l Robot Olympiad

Dhamnagar: Tanvi Mallick, a 12-year-old girl of Dhamnagar in Bhadrak district, has loads of trophies, certificates and prizes for her outstanding performance in various competitions. Significantly, she did the state proud as she was nominated from the state to take part in International Robot Olympiad to be held in Thailand from November 16 to 18.

A student of 7th standard in Chandrasekharpur DAV in Bhubaneswar, she had successfully participated in the national level Robot Olympiad at Ahmadabad in Gujarat from where she was nominated to the international level. Her project on farm and boat, relating to the theme, ‘food matters’ was impressive. Participants from 64 countries will take part in the International Robot Olympiad.

A multi-talented student, Tanvi has won prizes and trophies in debate, essay, drawing and chess competitions. She has been given Shining Star and All Rounder titles at various chess contests.

She was adjudged champion at the state level Umars Abacus Mental Arithmetic competition in 2014.

She was honoured by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in 2016 for her Science-based project at a competition organised by the forest and environment department.

Tanvi has earned a name as a good orator by taking part in debate competitions organised by the information and the public relations department during celebration of Biju Patnaik Jayanti, Madhubabu Jayanti, Gopabandhu Jayanti, Dharanidhar Bhuyan Jayanti and Chakara Bisoi Jayanti.

In 2018, people were amazed to see the oratorical skills of the 7th grader when she spoke at length on the culture and heritage of Dhamnagar at Dhamnagar Mahotsav. She was also awarded for this.

Tanvi was born to Pradip and Sanghamitra Mallick. She is the granddaughter of former MLA late Hrudananda Mallick. Her parents say, “Since childhood, Tanvi has been inquisitive. If she sees anything that catches her imagination, he feels restless and keeps herself busy until she finishes the work. She asks us a volley of questions about scientific inventions and science-related matter.”
