Bhadrak: In a shocking incident, a man attempted self immolation in front of the Puruna Bazaar police station in Bhadrak town Friday night.
The man identified as Sk. Fayaz was rescued by the policemen and was immediately rushed to Bhadrak district headquarters hospital. He suffered severe burns on his hands, legs and on some body parts.
According to sources, Sk. Fayaz is a resident of Puruna Bazaar area. Few days ago, some of his relatives had lodged an FIR against him at the police station over a family issue. He had also lodged a counter FIR.
Despite his doing rounds of the police station, the IIC was allegedly showing little importance to his complain. He had visited the police station Friday night as well. Receiving the same curt treatment, he lost his mental calmness. It was about 10 pm that he sprayed sanitiser on his body and set himself on fire.
Fayaz with severe burn injuries is currently undergoing treatment at Bhadrak district headquarters hospital (DHH).
