Bhadrak: Even as police said a chargesheet in the sensational Bhadrak double murder and rape case will be submitted to the court in a month, accused Gopinath Mohanty alias Babua Thursday blamed his wife Rashmita Mohanty for his arrest.
“My wife got me arrested by police. I was at Chandrasekhapur petrol pump and asked her to send me a vehicle. But she informed the police,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chandrasekhar Behuria, son of the deceased Rabindra Behuria said Babua has betrayed him and separated him from his parents and he has outraged the modesty of his sister.
He demanded that Babua be sent to gallows so that his parents will have peace.
Meanwhile, police intensified the probe and are trying to trace the gun used by Babua. It was learnt that a police team will go to Bhubaneswar residence to locate the gun.
Police seized the cell phone used by Babua. It will get the call details and find out who all he spoke to before he committed the crime. The telephone company concerned has been asked to provide the call details.
It was also learnt that a few months ago, Babua had detained a youth at gunpoint for a night near Daipur. Later, police rescued the youth from him.
Police were aware of the incident and the matter was mutually settled. The IIC said that the gun he used then was a toy gun.
It was learnt that Babua had distanced himself from his farther and had been staying at Bhubaneswar for last 10 years. He had married against the will of this family.
Though the real reason behind the murder has not been known, police have been looking at various aspects like loot, revenge and illicit relationship.
Earlier, Gopinath had confessed to the crime stating that he killed the couple since they had been troubling his parents for years.
