Bhadrak: The project director, District Rural Development Agency, Bhadrak, was seen working as a labourer at a road construction site in Dhamra panchayat.
The incident was of Saturday but a video showing the administrative officer digging earth and carrying basket on his head went viral Sunday. He has since been receiving praises from different sections of society.
Labourers were working on Jhadakata village road under Dhamra panchayat Saturday. The work was being done under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
Project director, DRDA, Madhusudan Das had been informed that the road construction work was being done by machines. To find out the veracity in the allegation, Das along with Chandbali BDO Jyotibikash Das had paid a visit to the work site Saturday.
There at the work site, he took all by surprise when he picked up a spade, dug earth and carried it in a basket on his head. Seeing him working like a labourer, BDO Das could not hold him back for longer. He too joined him and the other labourers.
Later Madhusudan Das said that he had worked among the labourers to encourage them, to bring transparency in such works, to see the labourers should get the benefits of the government schemes and to ensure fulfillment of the government’s aims and objectives.
