Cuttack: The Orissa High Court Friday asked the state government to file the status report of and case diary related to the alleged assault of an Army officer and his female friend at Bharatpur police station in Bhubaneswar September 15. Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo gave the directive while hearing the anticipatory bail pleas filed by now-suspended Bharatpur inspector in-charge Dinakrushna Mishra, sub-inspector Baisalini Panda, two women ASIs Salilamayee Sahoo and Sagarika Rath and constable Balaram Hansda. While the court is yet to hear the plea of Mishra, it did not give any relief to four others. The court posted the next hearing for October 28.
Inquiry Commission holds 2nd meet
Meanwhile, the Commission of Inquiry set up by the state government to probe the alleged assault of an Army officer and his female friend at the Bharatpur police station, conducted its second meeting Friday.
Sources said during the meeting, which was attended by Home Secretary Satyabrata Sahu, Special Secretary of Home Department Radha Krishna Sharma, Crime Branch ADG Vinaytosh Mishra and two Investigating Officers, DSP Nilima Panda and Narendra Behera, shared details about the Crime Branch investigation so far with the Commission, led by Justice Chitta Ranjan Dash. Emerging from the meeting, Crime Branch ADG Vinaytosh Mishra said that lie detection tests of all the police officials were conducted at Gandhinagar in Gujarat. He said brain mapping and narco-analysis of former IIC of Bharatpur Police Station Dinakrushna Mishra have been conducted and the reports are awaited. “The Commission was informed about the development of the Crime Branch investigation into the incident in the meeting,” the Crime Branch ADG said.
Commission Secretary Subhendu Mohanty said that information was collected from the Crime Branch officials about the developments in the investigation. “As the Crime Branch has received no reports from Gandhinagar, the officials could not inform anything about it,” he said. Sources said the statement of the victim has been recorded before a Magistrate. The Crime Branch ADG informed that the statements of the accused police personnel are yet to be recorded before a Magistrate.
