Bhubaneswar A win Kalahandi Cup

Cuttack: Bhubaneswar A rode on an all-round show by Shantanu Mishra (89, 84b, 3×4, 2×6 and 2/28) to emerge champions of the Kalahandi Cup cricket tournament beating Bhubaneswar B by 48 runs in the final at the Ravenshaw University I Ground here Thursday.

Put into bat, Bhubaneswar A scored 206 for the loss of six wickets in their stipulated 45 overs. Shantanu was well-supported by Sandeep Patnaik (40, 72b, 3×4) and Debashis Samantray (35, 63b, 2×4, 1×6). Rajesh Mohanty (3/31) was the pick of the Bhubaneswar B bowlers.

Bhubaneswar B however suffered a batting debacle while chasing the victory target and were bundled out for 158 runs. Raghunath Malla (45, 68b, 54×4) was the only one to offer some resistance.

Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) working committee chairman Dhiren Pallai was present as chief guest and distributed prizes.

Narrow win

Nabrangpur pipped Kendrapara by one run in a close encounter of the U-16 Inter-District cricket tournament at the Sunshine Ground in Cuttack, Thursday.

Brief scores: (At Sunshine Ground):  Nabrangpur 110 (Mohit Praharaj 34; Soumitra Biswal 5/21) bt Kendrapara 109 (Raju Das 43; P Abhishek Behera 3/18) by 1 run.

 

(At BOSE Ground): Nuapada 123 (Ashis Jena 3/9) lost to Keonjhar 127/8 (Krishna Gopal Nayak 56 n o; Ruturaj Mohanty 3/31) by two wickets.

(At Nimpur Ground): Sambalpur 193 (Akash Mukhi 62; Rakesh Sahoo 3/32) bt Sonepur 97 (Sresth Singh 4/22) by 96 runs.

(At SCB Ground): Bargarh 174 (Ajit Swain 66; Stelon Khosla 3/11) lost to Malkangiri 175/5 (Bhabyajyoti Bisoi 36) by five wickets.

(At Ravenshaw Ground II): Rayagada 68 (Ashutosh Moharana 5/26) lost to Angul 70/3 by seven wickets.
