Bhubaneswar run-a-thon: Sukumati, Pravesh take top honours

Bhubaneswar, Feb 15: The first Tata Steel Bhubaneswar Run-a-thon was been a huge success with more than 3,000 runners taking part in event here Sunday. The 10km run was flagged of at 6am at Kalinga Stadium by Member of Parliament Sidhant Mohapatra. India discard cricketer Saurabh Tiwary along with other Tata officials was present to encourage the runners.

Sukumati Laguri and Pravesh Sini emerged champions in the women’s and men’s segments respectively and each bagged a cash award of Rs 51,000. Laguri finished the race in 32:13 seconds. Puspanjali Jena (38:32s) and Sabha Naik (38.52s) finished second and third respectively.
In the men’s category Pravesh Sini finished with a time of 31:31 seconds. Following him in second and third positions were Arjun Tudu (31:35s) and Rohit Kara (32:15s).
Other results:
(Men’s 7km): Suraj Bodra (23:09s), Krishna Jonka (23.19s) and Jai Prakash (23:29s).
(Women’s 7km): Samsadi Ara Begum (28:24s), Heera Majhi (32:18s) and Rebati Sahoo (32.49s).
