Bhubaneswar, June 10: The heatwave condition intensified again in Orissa Wednesday with the Meteorological Centre here recording temperatures above 40°Celsius at 14 places across the state.
The highest temperature of 44° Celsius was recorded in capital Bhubaneswar.
Met Wednesday issued a severe heat wave warning for the state. “We have issued a severe heat wave condition warning in the state, especially in the coastal districts which will continue for the next 24 hours. There is the possibility of a fall in temperature tomorrow and the monsoon will touch the state between June 12 and 15,” said local Met centre director Sarat Chandra Sahu.
The sky may be partly cloudy and rain or thundershower may occur in some interior and costal pockets Thursday. However, the maximum and minimum temperature will be around 40 and 28 respectively, the forecast said.
Western and costal parts of the state continued to simmer. While maximum temperature of 43 ° Celsius was recorded at Chandbali in coastal Bhadrak district, Angul recorded 42.7 ° Celsius.
Similarly, temperature was 42.9° Celsius at Sambalpur, 41.2° Celsius at Balasore, 42.6° Celsius at Jharsuguda, 42.2° Celsius at Talcher, 42° Celsius at Balangir, 41.8° Celsius at Baripada, 41.7° Celsius Hirakud, 41° Celsius at Sundergarh and Titlagarh each, 40.7° Celsius at Dhenkanal and 40.2° Celsius Bhawanipatna.
