Cuttack, Jan 28: Bihar and Chandigarh entered the semifinals of the National Sub-Junior Girls’ Football Championship after registering narrow wins against their respective opponents in their different quarterfinal league matches at the Barabati Stadium here Thursday.
In the first match, Bihar rode on a hat-trick by Aditi Gupta to scrape past Jharkhand 3-2. She struck in the 10th, 35th and 70th minutes respectively. Sharadakumari scored a brace for Jharkhand in the 60th and 70th to reduce the margin.
In the second match Chandigarh pipped Haryana by a solitary goal. Poonam scored the all-important goal of the match in the 17th minute.
Orissa will meet Tamil Nadu, while Manipur will take on Telangana in their respective matches Friday.
OCA AGM
Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) will conduct its Annual General Meeting (AGM) here January 31. “Kalahandi Cup format change, selection of coaches and selectors in different categories and discussion about Lodha committee recommendations will be main issues discussed,” stated OCA secretary Asirbad Behera here Thursday.
Sairam in final
Sairam Morning Club entered the final of the Rajalaxmi Memorial Veterans football tournament thrashing Sadar Club 5-1 in a semifinal match at the Tulasipur Sports Academy Ground here Thursday.
Karate Championship
Orissa State Shotokan Karate Association will organise the 16th WSKFI All India Shotokan Karate Championship here January 31-February 4. Five hundred participants across 22 states of the country will participate in the competition.
