Tirtol: Unidentified bike-borne miscreants Monday snatched a gold chain from a female teacher and decamped at Bafapur of Tarajanga panchayat under Tirtol police limits in Jagatsinghpur district.
Sources said that Sujata Mallick was taking her class at Bafapur Primary School when two miscreants reached the school on a bike. One of them got down and walked up to Sujata. While engaging her in discussion, the miscreant pulled out a gun and pointed it at her, asking her to hand her chain over to him.
Out of fear, she did as she was told. The miscreants fled the spot before anybody could know what had happened. Locals observed that snatchers have meanwhile shifted their targets from commuters to the ones at houses and schools. They urged the police administration to take steps to curb the trend.
On being informed, police reached the school and launched an investigation.
