Bir Birsa script amazing turnaround

Bhubaneswar, Nov 4: Bir Birsa entered the final of the Gati Krushna Memorial Football League (Division-B) after scraping past MS XI 3-2 in the second semifinal at the Unit-I Boys’ HS Ground here Wednesday. Bir Birsa will meet Neel Kamal in the final, Friday.
It was however, MS XI who started on an aggressive note and took the lead through Ramsai Marandi in the 17th minute. Then Salman Soren doubled the lead in the 40th minute.
However, after the change of ends, Bir Birsa scripted an amazing turnaround. Prince Majhi got one back for the Birsa side in the 52nd minute and then restored parity with his second goal in the 65th minute. Durga Charan Godsara scored the winning goal in the 71st minute.
Oscar, Crown in quarters
Oscar and Crown Clubs entered the quarterfinals of the U-16 Umakanta Garabadu Memorial cricket tournament after beating Kishore and Town clubs in their respective pre-quarterfinal matches at the BEM HS Ground here Wednesday.
In the first match, Oscar beat Kishore Club by 10 wickets. Opting to bat first, Kishore Club were skittled out for 63 in 19.4 overs with man of the match Damburu Rana (4/5) scripting their downfall. Oscar Club knocked off the target in 9.2 overs with Aniket Pradhan (44) batting well.
In the second match, Crown defeated Town Club by 104 runs. Crown notched up a challenging total of 166 for the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated 23 overs. Man of the match Prasant Singh (32) and Brati Sundar Behera (31) batted well for Crown. Chasing the victory target of 167 runs, Town Club were bowled out for 62 in 13.3 overs.
Orissa win
Orissa men beat Jharkhand by 93 runs in their first match of the East Zone Blind T20 cricket tournament at Ranchi, Wednesday.
After opting to bat first, Orissa scored 154 runs in 15 overs. Sukhram Majhi (34), Jafar Iqbal (30) and Nakul Gadnayak (23) batted well. In reply, Jharkhand could manage only 60 runs in 12.3 overs. Tapan Kumar Gouda bowled well for Orissa capturing three wickets.
Pratyasha wins silver
Pratyasha Roy of Orissa won a silver medal in the 200 metres backstroke event of the National Schools’ Swimming Championships at Kolkata, Wednesday.
Volleyball tourney
Third Battalion NDRF Mundali, will organise the NDRF Inter-Battalion Volleyball Championships for the first time at Cuttack, November 4- 7. Teams from all the NDRF Battalions will participate in the tournament.
