Bhubaneswar: Renowned academician Biswamohan Misra died at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, his family said Wednesday.
He was 91. Misra, who had been suffering from age-related ailments for some time, breathed his last Tuesday night.
He is survived by his wife, Sarajubala Misra, son and Rajya Sabha MP Santrupt Misra, and daughter.
A former professor of Political Science, Misra had served as principal of Khallikote College, Kendrapara College, NC College, Jajpur College and Nayagarh College and director of the Academic Staff College of Utkal University.
Born in Birapratappur village in Puri district, he graduated from SCS College and completed his master’s in Political Science at Allahabad University.
He was later awarded a DLitt in Public Administration by Utkal University.
He was a popular teacher of his time, with many of his students going on to join the civil services.
Post-retirement, he had been staying with his daughter in Mumbai.
