Bhubaneswar: One person, who allegedly duped his friend’s wife of Rs 18 lakh, was arrested by the Sahid Nagar police here Thursday and forwarded to court. The accused, Saroj Nayak, falsely promised the victim, Kalpana Samantaray, a partnership in his company, ‘Best Deals.’
Saroj, who is the managing director of the company, allegedly took Rs 18 lakh from Kalpana in 2014 on the pretext of making her a partner in the company. However, he did not fulfill his promise. The accused had even promised to pay Kalpana Rs 1.40 lakh every mons as a director’s salary. She repeatedly requested Saroj to return her money, but to no avail.
November 20 this year, Kalpana lodged a complaint against him with the Sahid Nagar police station. In turn, the police registered a case (CS No. 535/20.11.17) under various Sections of the IPC.
