BJD accuses BJP of political violence in Bhanjanagar

Bhanjanagar: As the polling date nears in Ganjam, fierce competition between running Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and challenger BJP is getting worse day by day. Hours after BJP accused BJD of a murderous assault on the nephew of its Assembly seat aspirant; members of BJD in Bhanjangar Assembly constituency today picketed the local police station here alleging assault on its men by BJP supporters.

Tension ran high as the agitators blocked the road near the police station demanding immediate arrest of those who assaulted them. The agitators also threatened to continue their stir if no arrests were made.

According to sources, supporters of both BJD and BJP clashed over some political issue at Turumu village late Wednesday night.

While BJD activists approached the cops over the incident, they alleged that neither the cops lodged an FIR nor did they take any action.

Curiously, the BJP activists also alleged that the BJD members had attacked them and demanded their arrest.
