BJD, BJP are hand in-glove: OPCC

Bhubaneswar: With the BJD MPs walking out of the Lok Sabha ahead of the no-confidence motion debate against the NDA government, opposition Congress here came down heavily on the regional party and said both these parties were hand-in-glove with each other.
“I have always said this and I reiterate, both these parties (BJD and BJP) are hand-in-glove with each other and have been deceiving Odisha all along. It’s Congress Vs BJD+BJP alliance in Odisha,” OPCC president Niranjan Patnaik tweeted immediately after BJD announced its walk-out decision.
Dubbing the BJD as an “obedient ally” of the BJP, Patnaik said BJP-BJD’s ‘rishta’ (relation) is clear as crystal now. “They think they can fool us with their posturing, but their stand is totally exposed. People of Odisha will never forget that when it comes to delivering a decisive blow to the BJP, BJD chose to walk out,” Patnaik said.
Opposition BJP also did not appreciate BJD walking out of the Lok Sabha ahead of the debate on the no-confidence motion.
“They should have participated in the debate and put forth Odisha’s demand in Parliament. They are shouting about Central negligence, but when they (BJD) get an opportunity to raise the issue at appropriate forum, the BJD people walk out,” said BJP state vice-president Samir Mohanty.
Before staging a walk-out, BJD Parliamentary Party leader Bhartruhari Mahtab said “since the Congress-led UPA government during its 10-year tenure of and the BJP-led NDA government during its four-year tenure have done grave injustice to the people of Odisha, the debate on the no-trust motion in parliament will not be fruitful for the people of the state.”
“Therefore, we are staging a walkout and not participating in the debate,” he said.
