BJD to hold foundation day rally

Bhubaneswar: The public meeting of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on the occasion of its 20th foundation day of the party to be organised December 26 in Puri will be attended by over 30,000 people including party leaders, workers and supporters. BJD general secretary Sanjay Das Burma informed this to the media here.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and other senior party leaders are scheduled to attend the meeting. BJD leaders said the meeting will be attended by party members and workers from across state.
Besides, BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will be accorded a grand felicitation at the event. Patnaik will be felicitated at 20 different places between Bhubaneswar and Puri on the foundation day.
Apart from BJD government’s achievements during the past 18 years, many people-centric issues including Centre’s alleged anti-Orissa stance in matters related to Polavaram and Mahanadi dispute and Centre’s negligence will be the main highlights of the event.
The BJD was formed December 26, 1997 after the demise of Janata Dal heavyweight Biju Patnaik, father of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The foundation day of the party, meanwhile, is being organised in Puri for the first time. Earlier, the venue of the foundation day public event used to be held in the Capital city only, while the foundation day was celebrated at district-level across state by BJD leaders and workers.
This time also the party may carry out various activities at district level to reach out to people ahead of the polls, especially the ensuing civic body elections next year.
