Bhubaneswar: Odisha BJP Friday demanded action against Minister of Labour Srikanta Sahu for his alleged involvement in a sexual harassment case.

BJP Odisha State General Secretary Lekhashree Samanta Singhar at a press conference here also demanded the arrest of the Minister and urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to drop him from the cabinet.

She made the demand after a BJD woman leader- Sanjukta Mahal – visited the Bhubaneswar Mahila Police station from 10 AM to 12 PM on Thursday to lodge a complaint against the Minister.

The BJP leader said though medical examination of the woman was done, so far Police have not said anything on the issue and not even interrogated the Minister on the basis of the FIR.

She alleged that BJD leaders are putting pressure on the police to suppress the case. Many BJD leaders were also seen in the police station trying to persuade the victim lady to withdraw the case, the BJP leader alleged.

Samanta Singhar said though 24 hours have passed no action has been taken against the Minister so far.

She said the Chief Minister should drop the Minister from the cabinet to maintain the dignity of women and get him arrested in the case.
