New Delhi: A delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, including senior leaders Bijaya Mohapatra, Dilip Ray, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Sangita Singh Deo, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday and sought his intervention to speed up repair work of Jagmohan of Jagannath Temple in Puri.
“We discussed with the Prime Minister the repair work of Jagmohan work in Puri Jagannath Temple. The Prime Minister had visited the temple and seen the work, which may not be completed before the Rath Yatra as the progress is very slow. We brought this matter to his notice and sought his intervention. He instructed his office to look into this matter,” said Mohaptra.
“We have discussed the political affairs of the state,” he said.
Ray said he had given a letter to the Prime Minister demanding that Bharat Ratna be conferred on former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik.
The timing of the meeting with Prime Minister has become a talking point in the political circles of the state as these senior leaders are said to be unhappy with the present organisational set up and power equation in the state unit.
Three MLAs, including Ray and KV Singh Deo, had not attended the recently held meeting of the legislature party and office bearers. The leaders also met BJP national president Amit Shah later.
