BJP leaders seek anticipatory bail in BJD councillor’s murder case

Bhubaneswar: BJP leaders Golak Mohapatra and Bhrugu Buxipatra have moved the Orissa High Court seeking anticipatory bail in the murder investigation of Chhatrapur BJD councillor Laxmidutta Pradhan.

Both had been summoned by Chhatrapur police January 29 to appear before them and face questions February 7 and 9, respectively. However, Mahapatra failed to appear before the police Thursday because of health problems. He also appealed through his lawyer for an additional time of one month before appearing in front of the police.

The BJD councillor was brutally hacked to death by a group of youth, September 16, 2017. So far 19 people have been arrested in the case including the prime accused.
