BJP lodges ‘misbehaviour’ plaint against cops

Bhubaneswar: Members of BJP Mahila Morcha Wednesday lodged a complaint at Mahila police station here alleging that three police personnel misbehaved with them during their protest near Naveen Niwas Tuesday.

The members led by BJP state secretary Lekhashree Samantasinghar in their written complaint to the police stated that three policemen, including Nirmal Satpathy and Anup Kanungo, misbehaved with the women agitators while attempting to disperse them and foil their bid to enter Naveen Niwas. They also demanded action against them.

More than 10 BJP women wing activists were arrested by police Tuesday for allegedly attempting to barge into the Chief Minister’s residence here.

Hundreds of women activists of the saffron party had taken out a rally from the party office and were intercepted by police near Raj Mahal Square while attempting to meet the Chief Minister and question him over the derogatory remarks of Agricultural Minister Pradeep Maharathy against women.

Meanwhile, a group of activists somehow reached near Naveen Niwas and staged a demonstration in front of it. Later, they clashed with police when stopped from resorting to protest. The police also arrested several party workers.
