Bhubaneswar: Demanding action against BJD workers and activists indulged in hooliganism during hartal Monday, the BJP youth wing would stage protests before all SP offices across the state Tuesday.
“We will sit in dharna before the offices of all Superintendents of Police (SP) Tuesday as the common people were attacked and their vehicles were damaged by BJD goons during the hartal,” said president of the youth wing of state BJP, Tankadhar Tripaty.
He said, “The party is demanding strong action against the goons, who have attacked the public and damaged their property. The state government should take lead in the GST Council to implement the proposal to put diesel and petrol under the purview of GST, which will help reduce the price.”
A lady journalist was manhandled by the agitators near Patia Big Bazaar Square when she was going towards office on her two-wheeler. Similarly, vehicles of many citizens have also been vandalised by the BJD activists, Tripathy added.
Rubbishing the allegations, BJD vice president Debi Prasad Mishra said, “Neither the BJD, nor the Chief Minister supports violence during protests. It was an outburst of public dissent over fuel price rise.”
