BMC gears up for making JSD hearings successful

All nodal officers have been directed to visit grievance locations to ensure necessary arrangements

Bhubaneswar: With just a few days left for its first Jan Sampark Divas (JSD), or grievance hearing at multiple locations, the top officials of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) have taken the necessary steps for ensuring the success of event.
Normally, the corporation conducts the grievance hearing every Monday at its head quarters at Museum Square. But, holding grievance at one location for a city with a population of one million has caused inconvenience to the public. Considering, this corporation has recently decided to hold grievance hearing at 12 locations or sub zones on the 1st and 16th of every month.
Accordingly, JSD will be organised in the North Zone office, CS Pur Kalyan Mandap, VSS Nagar Community Centre, Pahala PHC Hospital, Cluster and Community Centre, Shastri nagar, Unit VIII Community Centre, Pokhariput SUH, Sahid Nagar Kalyan Mandap, Yatri Niwas, Badagada Kalyan Mandap and Daskhina Chandi Kalayn Mandap. In short, the sub zones like Info City sub zone, Xavier square, Vani Vihar, Kuakhai River area, Khandagiri, Iskcon area, OUAT area, Airport, BTCD, Old Cuttack road, Laxmi Sagar and Lingaraj Subzone will have grievance hearing locations.
As per the plan, the first JSD will be held this Saturday and corporation has directed the deputy commissioners or nodal offices of the respective sub zone to visit the grievance location.
“We have directed all the nodal officers to visit the grievance locations to make the necessary arrangements. The JSD will also maintain grievance registers and attendance registers,” said a top BMC official.
According to top sources, the corporation has also decided to avoid meetings and other events on grievance hearing days.
“We have decided to avoid multiplication of events and to ensure that the officers attend the hearing. This apart, the corporation will also hold review meeting on JSD on 17th and 18th of each month,” said a zonal officer.
