BMC Keshari Mall shops to be e-auctioned soon

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to e-auction 73 shopping units of Keshari Mall at Unit II in the city.
This was revealed at the last monthly corporation meeting of the year. The BMC-Keshari Mall is a public-private-partnership (PPP) project in which the BMC has 9,200 sq ft floor area as its share. In the four-storied building the BMC is having 24 units on the basement, 16 units on ground floor, 17 units on the first floor and six units on the second floor.
In a maiden move, the civic body has decided to go for online auctioning of the units on rent. The ground floor rent charges for the mall is fixed at Rs 60 per sq ft while those at the second floor will cost Rs 50 per sq ft. According to a BMC official, “A security deposit amount for five years shall be collected from beneficiaries. The highest bidder shall be allotted the units for doing business through online mode. BMC hopes to earn around Rs 4 to Rs 5 crore by auctioning these units and around Rs 60 lakh annual revenue from rent,” said a BMC official.
The PPP project started in 1999 as a joint venture of BMC and Keshari Estates Private limited. The mall is constructed at a business hub (market building area) with central air conditioning system.
