Bhubaneswar: With temperatures soaring to 38°C, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has placed water pots across the City to help stray animals stay hydrated.

BMC Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo said, “We have placed over 300 water pots in each zone for stray animals. We also urge residents to keep small water pots on their rooftops or verandas to provide water for birds.” Biswajit Patnaik, convener of the Odisha Animal Lovers Association (OALA) and animal activist, urged people to come forward to help stray animals during the summer.

Purabi Patra, founder of the Animal Welfare Trust Ekamra (AWTE), said, “Ensure that the water at the posts is fresh and refilled regularly. If your pet or a stray shows signs of heat stroke, gently pour normal water over them to cool them down.”
