Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has rescheduled a joint demarcation and verification of the historic Satara Nala at Pandara-Abdul Nagar, following an earlier field verification that could not be completed due to inaccessible portions and existing obstructions around the nala.
The joint inquiry will be conducted September 23 by officials and field staff of the BMC Land Section, BMC North Zone and the Odisha State Archaeology (OSA).
The BMC has also requested the Bhubaneswar Tahasildar to ensure the presence of concerned field staff, including an Amin or RI, along with relevant land records and other particulars for the verification.
According to a letter issued by the BMC Deputy Commissioner September 18, a joint verification of the Satara Nala was earlier conducted August 13 by officials of the civic body and OSA.
During the field verification, OSA officials recorded its approximate dimensions as 9 feet 6 inches by 10 feet 6 inches.
However, the complete measurement of the embankments could not be carried out because some portions were inaccessible and obstructed.
The BMC said the bridge, its embankments and adjoining plots need to be verified against relevant land records for proper demarcation and preparation of a sketch map.
BMC has therefore sought the cooperation of the Bhu baneswar Tahasildar and other concerned departments to facilitate the joint inquiry and demarcation in the larger public interest.
