Bhubaneswar, June 8: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to launch a mobile app to help citizens pay their bills and access BMC services.
According to BMC officials, citizens can access the services online using the mobile app which can be downloaded from BMC’s recently designed web portal.
The mobile app is compatible with Android and Apple smart phones, added the officials.
A single window mechanism will ensure easy and secure payments and also save time, claimed the officials.
The app will not only register complaints regarding lack of amenities in municipal areas, but also help access services of the corporation, the officials pointed out.
With the launch of the app, the residents are saved from the bother of standing in long queues to access civic services. Now on, the users will be able to book water tanks, cess pool vehicles among other services.
Customers can also book accommodation at Yatri Nivas online, which till recently was being done personally at the Yatri Nivas office. Efforts are being made to renovate the Yatri Nivas, official sources said. Booking for Yatri nivas would be linked to various tourist sites to make it tourist-friendly. There were also other initiatives to attract budget travellers to tourist destinations across the state.
The advantage of the mobile app is that it has made transactions more user-friendly and citizens can pay in advance for these services from the payment gateway system, which is newly designed by the BMC.
