Cuttack: Bhakta Madhu Vidyapitha (BMV) and New Stewart School will face-off for the title in the VIIth Basant Das Memorial Senior Inter-School football tournament after winning their respective semifinal matches here, Thursday.
In the first semifinal BMV trounced Bidanasi MPL HS 4-0. Sd Niaz Ali of BMV was adjudged the best player. In the second semifinal, NSS scraped past St Xavier’s 4-3. Amrit Samal of the winning team bagged the man of the match award.
Swastik steals show
Swastik Bhanupratap emerged champions in two events of the Ravenshaw University Athletic Meet, which was inaugurated at the University premises here Thursday. Swastik took the top honours in the men’s triple jump and long jump events respectively.

Orissa eves get bye
Orissa women’s team got a bye in the quarterfinal of the Senior Women’s T20 All India knock-out cricket tournament to be played in Bangalore, January 23-27. They will directly play in the semifinal, January 25.
