Kendrapara: The body of a newborn girl was found floating in a drain in Hazari Bagicha area under Kendrapara Town Police Station Sunday, reports said.
As per the report, some locals spotted the newborn in the drain in morning and informed the cops. Police rushed to the spot and fished out the body from the drain water and sent it for postmortem.
While the postmortem report is awaited, some residents in the area have suspected that somebody from either the District Headquarters Hospital or a private clinic located nearby might have dumped the newborn in the drain.
Both the healthcare units are located at a distance of around 500 meters from the spot. Further investigation is underway into the incident.
