Bomb attack in Ganjam village creates panic

Brahmapur: Tension gripped Kukudakhandi area on the outskirts of Brahmapur after unidentified miscreants allegedly hurled bombs in the locality, sources said Tuesday.

The sources added that the group arrived in the locality on five motorcycles and allegedly carried out the bomb attack. The incident came amid tension in the area following an earlier sword attack on a youth from Bauri Sahi.

After the bomb attack, the suspects reportedly tried to escape on their motorcycles. Locals chased them and pelted stones, causing two of the men to fall from their vehicles. The villagers then caught the duo and allegedly tied them up.

Sadar police reached the spot and attempted to take the two men into custody. However, residents allegedly stopped the police vehicle from leaving the area, demanding the arrest of all those involved in the attack.

The standoff further escalated as residents “pelted stones” at the police vehicle, causing damage. Police were trying to bring the situation under control and restore order in the area.
