Chikiti: Panic gripped people after miscreants hurled bombs on the house of a trader at Chikitipentha, Nua Bazaar under K Nuagaon police limits in Ganjam district in the wee hours of Tuesday.
The trader was identified as Surya Sahu of the area. However, no major casualty was reported during the incident as the two bombs damaged only the main shutters of the house and some portions of a motorcycle parked inside. The incident has come at a time when people are yet to recover from the trauma of a group clash that recently occurred in Pitatali village under Chikiti Assembly segment due to political rivalry.
On being informed, Chikiti SDPO Krushna Chandra Bhatra and K Nuagaon IIC Mrutyunjaya Swain reached the spot and launched an investigation by collecting the fragments of the exploded bombs.
People fear that the two back-to-back incidents might endanger their lives as Chikitipentha is the main commercial hub of the area which is daily visited by lakhs of people from 17 panchayats to buy and sell goods.
