Bhubaneswar, July 14: Saroj Kumar Patnaik, a former professor of political science and a political analyst, launched his book ‘Society and State Issues in Politics Administration and Development’ at Red Cross Bhawan here, Thursday.
State minister for co-operation and excise Damodar Rout was among the dignitaries who attended the book release function.
Saroj said: “This book comprises 80 of my publications which have been thematically and systematically divided into 12 chapters starting with Mahatma Gandhi and ending with the United Nations. This apart, the book covers relevant issues such as development, election, environment, foreign policy, Indian polity, political theory and administration, resettlement and rehabilitation, social issues, terrorism and women.”
Saroj said he would be satisfied if the book was treated as a “sincere, responsible and humble” attempt to project his views before young and old students. “It will give me immense pleasure if my contribution will catalyse learning and benefit students and teachers of political science, academicians and administrators,” he said.
According to Saroj, he had never consciously decided to write the book and feels it was his destiny to produce it and that the book pushed him carry on amid trials.
Saroj has a rich academic background that has helped him in the effort. He started his career as a lecturer in political science at Nayagarh College. He speciailised in international relations on Indo-UN collaboration and has written 80 research papers presented in state, national and international level conferences and workshops.
He is the author of books such as ‘United Nations and India in the Promotion of Social Service and Social Welfare’, ‘Society and State’ and ‘United Nations, India and New World Order’. He has written several articles and edited books such as ‘People’s Mandate’, ‘Indian Political Thinker’ and ‘Celebrating Satyagraha’.
Saroj has also been engaged in social service in addition to writing articles, publishing books and organising socio-cultural events. “I love the environment,” the writer said.
