Bhubaneswar: Renowned wrestling coach Bhupesh Kumar among whose students are Asian and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Narsing Yadav, inaugurated the Wrestling and Boxing training centres at the Utkal Karate School (UKS) premises here Saturday.
The high-quality training facilities will be open for all age categories. Speaking to mediapersons Bhupesh said, “The most important thing is the training of the players, their diet and conditioning along with a disciplined life. If all these aspects are followed properly, I am sure Orissa will produce top quality wrestlers.”
Former women’s wrestler Bandana Chowdhury who will be the main coach at the academy promised to lend her full support to the youngsters. “I will give my best to help these youngsters with all the experience I have and am hopeful that in the coming few years many wrestlers from this state will be performing at an international level.”
UKS founder Hari Patnaik informed that the next State Wrestling Championships will take place at the newly-inaugurated venue.

Orissa karatekas representing India bagged three medals including two gold and one bronze in the South Asian Karate Championship in Colombo, Saturday.
Valena Valentina won a gold medal in the women’s senior kata event. Payal Baral won the yellow metal after beating a Nepalese opponent. However Dilip Kumar Jena had to be satisfied with a bronze medal after losing to his Sri Lankan opponent.
