Kantamal: Following accusations of gangrape of a Class VIII girl at Kudibahal village under Kantamal police limits in Boudh district, the police swung into action and arrested the two accused Tuesday.
They have been identified as Parma Bhoi and his aide Magusir Nayak of Kudibahal village. Acting on a tip-off, police made the arrest while they were hiding at Parma’s paternal aunt’s house at Bandhanajhuli village.
A case was registered and the two were produced in court. They were then remanded in judicial custody after the court rejected their bail pleas, investigating officer Purnachandra Kishan said.
The 14-year-old girl, a native of Nuapada village, had gone to attend a marriage function along with her paternal aunt at Kudibahal village Saturday. In the evening, she along with her aunt went to relieve herself.
She then went to fetch water from a tubewell near the local school when the two gagged her and dragged her to a forest where they took turns on her. Taking advantage of the dark, the two kept her raping until her aunt raised an alarm following which the villagers rushed to the spot and rescued her.
Seeing the villagers, Parma and his aide ran away. They had even threatened the girl with dire consequences if she named them. However, the girl and her aunt narrated the ordeal to the former’s father who lodged a complaint Sunday evening.
Further investigation is on, police said. PNN
