Boy injured in mishap dies due to ‘medical negligence’

Berhampur: A Class-X student, who was critically injured in a road mishap Tuesday and was undergoing treatment at MKCG Medical College and Hospital, succumbed to his injuries due to alleged medical negligence, Friday.

The deceased was identified as Arjun Sodi of Sanagela village under Bhandrakonda panchayat. He was studying in Class X in Gotanipalii Nabin Chandra High School.

According to sources, Arjun suffered critical injuries on his head in a road mishap Tuesday. He was rescued and rushed to the nearby Paria community health centre (CHC). But without any primary treatment, doctors referred him to Malkangiri district headquarters hospital.

He was then taken to Malkangiri hospital and later shifted to MKCG after his condition deteriorated. However, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Following this, Arjun’s cousin Mula Sodi lodged a complaint with the police alleging medical negligence.

Arjun’s family has demanded stern action against the school and hospital authorities for the negligence in treatment.
