Rourkela, March 16: Biju Patnaik University of Technology vice-chancellor Prof Shyam Sundar Pattnaik Monday said a digital and convenient mode of imparting education will soon come up in the university. Addressing a press conference at the university, Pattnaik underscored that social media especially video sharing website YouTube will be used by the varsity as a platform of education.
Pattnaik said Power Point presentations of classroom teachings would be uploaded on the varsity’s YouTube channel. It will be convenient and more fruitful for Students, as they can go through the video lectures for indefinite number of times.
The low cost digital system of
education will not only help students of the varsity, but will also help a
large number of students and teachers from various parts of the country and abroad.
The vice-chancellor also said, “Majority of institutes in the country do not reveal internal marks before the start of final examinations. Therefore, a Learning Management System will be generated in BPUT soon, in which online assignments and objective and descriptive type exams will be conducted as part of internal assessment, and the results will be displayed on the website. Due to this transparent system, students will have an opportunity to see their performance, and have sufficient time to prepare accordingly for final examinations. The software will add the final marks to the internal marks already displayed on the website.”
Addressing various problems of
the varsity, he said, “Within two
months all backlog exams will be completed and certificates streamlined in three months. I will ensure that conduct of examinations and publication of results will happen in time from this semester.”
Varsity registrar Dr M. Altaf Khan was also present at the press meet.
