Bolangir: A 10-month-old marriage ended in tragedy after a young bride was found dead in Mahipur village under Tushura police limits in Bolangir district, with her family alleging murder.
The deceased, identified as Anupama Mahananda, had married Maidanshu Mahananda May 8 last year. According to her family, the couple engaged in frequent quarrels. Suspicion arose after Anupama’s relatives noticed marks on her neck, prompting allegations that she was strangled to death by her in-laws.
Police have detained her husband, Maidanshu, along with his brother and sister-in-law for questioning. Tushura police have launched an investigation based on the complaint filed by the victim’s family.
The post-mortem is being conducted at Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Bolangir, police said, adding that further action will be taken based on the findings. Station house officer Manoj Pradhan confirmed that an inquiry is underway.
