Phulbani: Rain water washed away a bridge on Raikia-Simanbadi road near Murudikupudi in Raikia block of Kandhamal district Friday.
According to reports, incessant rain over the past couple of days also washed away several roads and left many acres of agricultural land marooned in the block.
Communication between Raikia and Simanbadi has been cut off after the incident.
Panchayats like Ranaba, Indragarh and Badabarba dependent on Karda road have been cut off from rest of the world.
As many as 500 families were affected due to the washing away of the bridge.
