BSE result declared, girls outshine boys

Cuttack:The Odisha Board of Secondary Education (BSE) declared its Matric results, 2018 Monday, showing a 76.23 pass percentage. The announcement was made by School and Mass Education minister Badri Narayan Patra. He announced the results at 9am in the presence of school and mass education secretary Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra and BSE president Jahanara Begum, among others.

As in previous years, girls have outperformed boys in this year’s exams. The pass percentage has decreased this year from 85.28 in 2017 to 76.23. A total of 5,54,339 candidates had appeared for the exams this year, of which 2,17,666 were girls and 2,10,129 boys.

Balasore recorded the highest 88.15 per cent pass rate while Malkangiri reported the lowest at 59.32 per cent.

As many as 1,715 students have scored A1 while 15,689 students scored A2. Likewise 39,252 candidates scored B1 and 68,009 students B2. While 429 schools have registered 100 per cent results, there was no pass in 36 schools.

As many as 5,90,363 students had appeared for the exams in 2,818 centres in the annual High School Certificate Examinations (HSCE) held between February 23 and March 8.

As many as 13,285 teachers were engaged for evaluation of the answer-sheets which began in 57 centres across the state March 20.

Students can check their scores online by logging on to -http://orissaresults.nic.inand http://www.bseodisha.nic.in – from 12pm. They can also get their results through SMS. Students can type – OR10 give space and then type their roll number and send it to 5676750 to get their results through SMS.
