BHUBANESWAR: Aedea School of Fashion and Design organised NIFT Situation Test Preparation, a crash course, at NIFT campus here recently.
The situation test was held for a duration of two hours on the campus. This was the second phase of the aforementioned course. Only those students were eligible for it that had cleared the first phase of examination i.e. General ability test and creative ability test.
This was also the concluding phase of the examination. After clearing it, successful will get ranks. They would get admissions in various courses like fashion design, textile design and fashion communication among others, according to their ranks. The test plays a very important role in the final selection as it contains 20% of the total weightage.
The test was all about 3-D model making by manipulating material provided by the institute within the stipulated time limit. Each model must be accompanied by a caption and a write-up of 50-100 words.
In NIFT Situation Test 2019, candidates have to appear for a practical examination at their nearest NIFT centre. At the exam centre, candidates are provided with a set of material and they need to make 3D models using these materials to answer the questions put to them.
After making the models, aspirants need to accompany the same with a write-up explaining the model’s construction. The process of training potential candidates is quite detailed. They are first introduced to creative thinking to work on themes.
They are then trained in 3-D modeling with a range of material. Advanced model-making techniques are also imparted in this process. The institute even provided tips on preparing a write up. Discussing and solving the last ten years NIFT Situation test papers and solving ten mock test papers prepared by NIFT Alumni can be useful, they stated.
The course will provide students insights into design skills in a planned approach. This will help them in learning critcal design and creative skills by understanding the elements and principles of design. The course helps in understanding these skills and implements one’s thought process in a structured way which will help him/her in developing the product as per the scenario provided.
This will also help the student to have a hands-on experience of working with varied material like paper, plastic, wood and metal among others in a given time frame. Budding designers had a field at the intuitive session.
