Bullets fired at garment shop

Rayagada:  Miscreants opened fire at a garment shop near the Srigundhicha temple in Rayagada town late Tuesday night.

According to sources, the owner of the cloth store, Mohit Ashrini, shut the shop around 9.30 pm Tuesday and left for his house.  In the following morning, when Mohit came to open the shop, he found that at least two bullets were fired at his shop, which had also destroyed the glass door.

In this connection, Mohit alerted the police. Later, the police including additional SP Patita Paban Choudhury reached the spot and launched a probe into the matter. The police also have seized two 7.65mm cartridges from inside the shop.

The exact cause of the firing is yet to be known while the owner of the shop said he has been running the shop for more than 10 years, however he didn’t know what promoted the miscreants to take such steps.

On the other hand, the market association has condemned the incident and demanded strict action against the miscreants. They demanded the police intensify night patrolling.
