Business conducted for just 7.25 hrs

Bhubaneswar: The last session of 15th Assembly conducted business for approximately 7.25 hours in past five days. The session, which started February 4, lasted 2.03 hours on the first day and paid tributes to former members and ex-Army men, besides the speech of Governor. On the second day, it hardly ran for 14 minutes. The situation remained almost same in the next two days. The 147-seated Assembly conducted business for 42 minutes February 6, while and for 35 minutes on the day when the Vote on Account was presented.

On the last day, the situation was improved a little and the House conducted business for 3.51 hours. The Speaker PK Amat adjourned the House sine die at 6.46 pm. During these five days, eight reports of various House Committees were presented and 15 papers and 14 annual reports of different government organisations were tabled. Only one Bill (Appropriation Bill) was introduced and passed during this session, while Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik made only one statement on the floor of the House. Similarly, 10 obituary references were made during the session. Of the 260 starred questioned received, only three were answered.
