Berhampur: Police Tuesday recovered a mutilated body of a man from a cashew orchard near Lunidhipa village under Jagannathprasad police limits in Ganjam district. The deceased has been identified as Balakrushna Sahu (35), a businessman of Itamati area in Nayagarh district.
The matter came to the fore after villagers spotted the body in the orchard this morning and informed police. On receipt of the information, police recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem.
A case was registered and an investigation into the incident is underway.
It is suspected that Balakrushna might have been murdered over business rivalry, though the actual reason behind the killing is yet to be ascertained. The circumstance under which the body was found indicates that he was thrashed to death.
A motorcycle and a sledgehammer have been seized from the spot, police sources said.
